Lancer: Field Guide to the Rào Cỏ Gate is a third-party supplement for the Lancer TTRPG from Massif Press. Focused on providing new worlds to explore and new technology to embrace, this supplement offers four new worlds with lore, NPCs, and plot hooks for Game Masters, as well as new core bonuses and new licenses for the Big Four manufacturers, eight new alternate frames, and exotic equipment for players.

This supplement is currently being developed and will be updated with additional content and art as time progresses. Currently, the LCP contains four new licenses and eight new alternate frames:

  • The IPS-N Winter, an all-purpose controller with roots as a retrofitted cargo hauler and asset reclamation.
  • The SSC Karamono, a mysterious and deadly controller that attacks from unknown dimensions.
  • The HORUS Dryad, a teleporting guerilla artillery suit that manipulates its targets before striking.
  • The HA Zenobia, a pugnacious striker built to brawl with the largest of foes, supported by a fleet of drones.

As well as alternate frames for the IPS-N Drake and Nelson, the SSC Mourning Cloak and White Witch, the HORUS Balor and Gorgon, and the Harrison Armory Barbarossa and Iskander!

I'm digging some of these weapons and systems, although I did have some questions and feedback. Mind, this is all from reading through the content; I haven't gotten to do any live playtesting yet.

  • How does the Brace/Compensation core bonus interact  with allied systems that Stun, such as the Stasis Generator? Also, what about the other negatives of Stun such as auto-failing saves and being unable to take reactions?
  • Currently the HA Hundred Devils' critical effect as written is completely detrimental to one's team. I'm assuming that, in theory, the intended effect is to prevent the target from moving adjacent to its allies or punish them for grouping up. In practice, however, the fact that it automatically inflicts burn and heat on any adjacent character will result in any allies that use melee attacks can no longer attack the target without suffering Burn damage, and the target can purposefully move adjacent to your allies to burn them, no save or check, essentially giving the target a defensive buff. There's no incentive for the target to attempt a Save to stop the effect.

That's all I have for now.

Thanks for the feedback! Here's what I have so far:

  • Brace/Compensation Cockpit grants the mentioned movement and quick action regardless of the source of the Stunned condition, so long as you are not the source of it. You still auto-fail saves and are unable to take reactions. If this turns out to be busted after targeted playtesting, we'll make the necessary changes.
  • That's a funny one! The intended effect is for the burn and heat to only effect characters hostile to the user of Hundred Devils, but we will definitely see about clarifying the wording.

great work !

Thanks so much!

i don't know if you plan to do it or not but you should create a forum in the third-party section of the Lancer discord . it would attract people to your project !

While we don't intend to post on PilotNET any time soon, that might be an avenue we follow in the future once the supplement's mechanics and writing nears completion!

Congrats on the LCP release.

The Latch Carbines trait from the Winter says "mustcan" after the words "the grappled target".

The Superheavies wording from the Winter is missing an or between "if they are immobilized" and "Winter is grappling them".

I do believe those two are the only typos in the LCP though.

Thank you for letting me know! We'll get on that as soon as we can!
